Margaret Miller at Guild

Yesterday was the monthly guild meeting and our speaker was Margaret Miller.  Here is a not very clear photo of her.

She was very entertaining and enjoyable.

Here are a few quilts from Show and Tell.

It was a fun meeting.  Sue Spargo is coming in two months.  Here are the projects that she is going to teach.

Apron Swap Ready to Mail

I finished up my apron for the apron swap yesterday.  It will go into the mail today.  We are also sending three tuck-ins and I have them ready so all that needs to be done is to package everything up and actually get it in the mail.  I hope my partner likes it.

I made it from a pattern called the Clothespin Apron.  It is reversible and very cute.

Another Bee Block

Here is another bee block.  This one came a few days ago but was put in a pile of mail by Bill and I didn’t find it until Wendy wrote to find out if I had received it.

Isn’t it wonderful?  It is the 6th block that I have received so far – five more to come.

Beyond Beginners–Curved Piecing

Last night was the final session of this series of Beyond Beginners classes.  The focus this time was on curved piecing.  Curved piecing is scary for most quilters but is really easy when you concentrate.  Here are the blocks that got finished.

Here are some close-ups.

They did a great job!

Design Wall Monday–April 25, 2011

My design wall is pitiful today.

The only thing on my design wall today is a block from my Let’s Bee Together group.  This block was made by Tiffany.  Here is a close-up.

This will go great with my other blocks.  So far there are five so six more will be coming by the end of the month.

Hopefully Judy will have more blogs on her post today.  You can check here.

Exciting Time at Jo-Anns

I stopped at Joanns yesterday after work to use a few coupons and buy some more Denyse Schmidt yardage.  I used my four coupons and went out to the car – this is what I saw.

In case you can’t tell, that is a very flat tire.  First I tried to find the jack and spare tire – that wasn’t much fun.  I finally got the book out and figured out where the spare was but couldn’t figure out how to get it loose.

In the meantime, I had called Bill and he was on his way to rescue me.  I gave up and waited for him.  He managed to change the tire with the funny looking spare tire.

Of course with the Easter holiday, there isn’t anyplace to buy a new tire until Monday but I don’t really have any place to go anyway.  At least I was able to use my coupons and brought more fabric – just what I needed. Happy Easter to all of you!

Sue’s Quilt in Progress–Paper Piecing

Sue was working on her paper piecing project during quilt till you wilt yesterday.  She is going to add the yellow around the outside border with the red cornerstones and then decide if it needs another border.

This is a project from the March Beyond Beginners class – the next class is Monday night and we will work on curved piecing.

Beginning Machine Piecing–Quilt Tops!

The final session of the Beginning Machine Piecing Class was Wednesday.  There were 9 students, 4 in the morning and 5 in the evening.  Everyone did a wonderful job.  Here are the completed quilt tops.

This last one is not sewn together because she decided she wanted to make a replacement block – after that was done, she started putting it together but ran out of time before it became a top.

It was so much fun to see the tops as they were finished.  Most people got at least some of the first border put on.  For the next session, I am extending the class to one more session so we can get all the borders on.

Customer Quilts

I delivered two customer quilts yesterday.  First is this one by Helen.  It is for her granddaughter.

The second one is by Sue.  She made this from one of my classes called Beyond Beginners.

Off to work at Tiny Stitches!

Just One Star and Leader/Ender Block

I finally got around to making a couple of stars for Moda’s Just One Star program.  I made these two and put them in the mail yesterday.

While working on these, I finished up block 14 of my Moda leader/ender blocks.

I also finished up two customer quilts and will show them after I deliver them today or tomorrow.

More Saturday Sampler Progress

I am not sure how/why I got so far behind on my blocks but I am determined to get caught up – at least with this years blocks.

Here is what I finished yesterday. First are two extra blocks for the Batik houses.  Of course a neighborhood needs trees.

Next is another Floral Fantasy block.

Now that the batik houses are all caught up, I am moving on to the bright house blocks.  Here is the February block.

Yesterday was the monthly Piecemakers bee.  Here are a couple of projects that Susan brought to show.  The pineapple quilt is made from all Asian fabrics and is beautiful.

She also made this selvage tote bag in a class.  I love it.

After Piecemakers, lunch and some sewing, I worked on customer quilts – finished one and started another.  I plan to concentrate on this tomorrow.

Design Wall Monday–April 18, 2011

My design wall has finally changed.  I decided on the inner border for the curvy road quilt.  It is a very bright yellow stripe and I think it will be great.  The photo is on my cutting table.

Here is my actual design wall or I guess I should say design walls.

Along the top of the walls are the Saturday Sampler blocks waiting for their friends to join them.  The church block goes with the black houses, the blocks next to it are from my bee and there will be a total of eleven of them.  I have received four so far.  Down in the left corner are the leader/ender blocks.

I am continuing to work on past Saturday Sampler blocks but have a few other things to work on so might not make much progress on them this week.

For more design walls go to Judy L’s blog.

Another Bee Block

I received another bee block yesterday.  Yesterday was also the birthday of my baby, Christina.  She is 43 years old.  This a photo from last summer.

Here is the bee block from Ann.

Off to the quilt shop for another exciting Sunday!
