It is really going to be fun to put this quilt together.  Only four more blocks to arrive.

Another Bee Block

This block is from Charlene.  She had a problem with the white and substituted green.  I am sure it will look great in the quilt!  She also sent along a very cute pattern for a bag.  It is now on my list of things to make.

This is block number 6 of 11.  Looking forward to receiving the rest.

Another Bee Block

I received another bee block a few days ago.  This makes 5 of the 11 so far and they are looking good.  This one is from Bailey.

She also included a little recipe book that looks very interesting.  Thanks Bailey.

Bee Blocks Received

I received 3 more blocks from the Let’s Get Together bee.  I love the ones that have come so far.  I sent out the fabric and asked for star blocks.  I love them.

Also, here is a photo of Tina’s second Birdie Stitches quilt.  The first was brighter and this one is made with Sweetwater’s Sunkissed.  I need to get mine out and work on it.

I worked on the spool blocks today and finished them up so I am ready for the swap.  I made 4 blocks using selvages for the thread and the rest have the cool thread fabric I have been using.  The blocks aren’t due until June so I am actually ahead – no last minute sewing this year.

I am teaching tonight so there will be photos of student quilts tomorrow.

Design Wall Monday–May 7, 2012

Every year my bee group, Piecemakers does a block exchange.  This year we are exchanging spool blocks.  They are due in June so for a change I am planning on getting them done early.  My design wall today has 5 of the 17 blocks I need to make.

In addition to the spool blocks ( by the way, check out the great “thread” fabric I found) there is my first star block from my bee month.  I was late in getting the fabric out and so I am patiently waiting for the blocks to arrive.  I sent out the same fabric as last year and plan to make a larger quilt.  Here are my blocks from last year.

April is my Bee Month

April is my Bee month and I almost forgot.  I am getting the packages out today.  Last year I used a layer cake and had everyone make me star blocks – they were wonderful.

I haven’t put them together into a quilt yet and found another layer cake of the same line.  I decided to ask for stars again and I will put them all together to make a larger quilt.

For some reason, the email with the addresses didn’t make it to my inbox and I have been so busy that I forgot to check on it – actually I completely forgot that April is my month.  I am late but everything will go in the mail today.  In the note I am letting them know that I don’t expect to see the blocks in April – they can take their time since it is my fault they are getting the packages late.

Here is the kitchen table where I am working on the packages to go out.

I have some other things that need to go in the mail and I have a Beginning Machine Piecing class starting tonight.  No morning class this session, just evening.

More Bee Blocks

I made the January and February bee blocks today.  One is going to Canada so it won’t go out until Monday but I can drop the other off at the Post Office tomorrow.

Here is the January block.

Here is the February block.

Hope they like them – I do.

Catching Up

I finished up some past due Bee blocks.  First is this one for Bailey.  She did not want it trimmed to size so here it is, uneven edges and all.

Next is one for Staci. I really like this block.

Lastly, here is Marta’s block.  She used Christmas fabrics.

Hope they like them.

More Star Blocks

I got more blocks in the mail.  I am really getting excited about this wonderful collection.

There are lots of different sizes so it will be fun to figure out how to put them together.

Design Wall Monday–11/21/11

Here is my design wall today.  These are my blocks from the Scrap Bee.  I will get blocks from 11 people and these are the first 3.  I asked for stars of any kind on either a black on white or white on black background – any size.  These will be a fun challenge to put together.

I have received four blocks so far from the Scrap Bee.  I asked for stars made from made fabric on either black on white or white on black.  These are perfect!

These are from Sara and Barbara.  Aren’t they wonderful?

Competed Swap Commitments

I completed my July swap commitments earlier and they are all in the mail so I thought I would share them.

First is the August gifts for Marta for the Santa Sack swap.  They will go into her Santa Sack to wait for Christmas.  Since I am wrapping each gift in fabric, she will have a small collection to add to her stash.

Next is the block for the Let’s Bee Together Bee for July.  Wendy is the recipient of the block.

I also finished these two blocks for Sandra in the Scrap Bee.

Lastly, I participated in the Solid Segments swap.  We were to take a piece of art and interpret it using only solid fabric.  I have always like Andy Warhol so came up with this.  It is on it’s way to Margaret’s house and I can’t wait to see mine from her.

I did deviate from the solids only by using a stripe on the binding but I consider that just a frame so decided it was OK.

I need to get my July bee block made – not sure if I can get it done before I leave on Friday but maybe I will take it with me.

This should be a pretty quilt when finished.

Bee Blocks

I finished up my bee blocks and got them in the mail yesterday.  Here is the one for Mollie in the Let’s Bee Together bee.

The next blocks are for Sara from the Scrap Bee.  She sent the water fabric and asked us to make lakes and islands.  I hope she likes them.

I got behind because of the 10 days I was gone in June but hopefully am all caught up now.

Design Wall Monday–May 9, 2011

Here is what is on my design wall today – all the blocks from Let’s Bee Together.  I had the month of April for this bee and am very pleased with what everyone made for me.

Although not on my design wall, I did finish this apron to wear at Quilt Market.  I am leaving today to go to Southern California.  My sister Robin has a booth at Quilt Market in Salt Lake City so I am going to help her.  We will be driving to Salt Lake from Seal Beach starting tomorrow morning.  If you are going to Spring Market stop by 2446 and say hello.

You will be able to recognize us with our matching but not the same aprons.  Here is mine.

and you can see Robin’s here.

Bee Blocks–All Received

This first one is from Carolyn

This one is from Colleen

This one is from Mollie – she also sent her fabric for the May block.

I need to make one more so I have twelve.  Then I need to figure out how I want to set them since they are not all the same size.

I love each and every block and am so pleased with this Bee.

One More Bee Block

This one is from Bailey.  I sent three fabrics to most of the group but a couple of them got four (plus the white).  Apparently Bailey got four and used them very well.

Only a few more blocks to come in before I can start trying to decide what to do with all these wonderful blocks.
