June Bee Blocks

I got my bee blocks for June done just in time.  This first one is for Let’s Bee Together and it is going to Carolyn.

This second set is going to Glen in the Scrap Bee.

She asked for stylized leaves.

Glad to have these done on time.

Beginning Machine Piecing–Class Five

First here are the friendship stars from last week.

Today we worked on flying geese.  They learned to make them two different ways – one using squares and rectangles and the second one using Marti Michell’s flying geese ruler.  As usual, there was a difference of opinion about the best method.

They are each going to make three blocks which is 6 flying geese.  They did a wonderful job on them. First they made one block with light geese and dark sky.  The next two will be dark geese and light sky.

Next week we will start putting the quilt tops together.

Center of Christmas Quilt Done!

I just finished the center of the Christmas quilt.  I will get the borders on it this evening and it will be ready to quilt.

I see two of the same fabric blocks next to each other but I think it is going to stay that way – at least they are turned different directions!

Design Wall Monday–June 27, 2011

I have made some progress on my design wall project.  Here is 1/2 of the quilt top (before borders).

I have had several questions about the 3D part of this top so here is a close-up photo that might help.

I am still having fun with this project.  For more design walls, go to Judy L’s blog here.

Customer Quilts

Cathy picked up her quilts from Michelle yesterday.  She was thrilled with the quilts.  She went home and took photos of them in her home.  The large quilt looks beautiful on her bed.

Michele even made matching pillowcases for her.

Here is the smaller quilt over the back of a chair.

It is wonderful to see the results of our work enjoyed so much!

Christmas Quilt Progress

I have made a little progress on my 3D Christmas Quilt.  Here is part of the design wall today.

Both the trees and the pinwheels are 3D.  They are fun to make but a little tricky to press correctly.  I have to clip the seams to get them to lay right.

Sue Spargo at Guild

What a wonderful guild day.  We had over 35 guests to see Sue Spargo and no one was disappointed.  Here are a few of her projects.

Sue Spargo Class

I went to a Sue Spargo class today and played with wool.  We had a great time but I don’t have much to show so far.

The above photo is of the wool that I am making a bird out of.  I plan to work on the piece a little more tonight and hope to show the finished project in a few days.

New Laptop!

0611 New Computer

I ended up with a new laptop and have spent most of the day moving things from the old one to the new one.  I am still getting programs reinstalled on the new laptop but have managed to set up email, all my documents and photos.  Still have to work on Photoshop and figure out how to sync my IPhone to the new one.

I have also worked on the Christmas quilt – at least a little.

Yet Another Customer Quilt

This quilt is a companion to the quilt I posted here.  Michele also made this quilt.  She made it from the leftovers from the first quilt.  The first one was custom quilted but this one has a simple swirl overall.  They will be great together.

Design Wall Monday–June 20, 2011

I have made a little progress on one of the Christmas quilts.  I have 14 blocks out of 26 made.  They still need the pinwheels added but that shouldn’t take long once the main blocks are made.

For more design walls, go to Judy’s blog here.

One More of Sue’s Quilts

Here is the last of this group of Sue’s quilts.  She is going to pick them up today.

Sue put Minky/Cuddle on the back.

This is made from my sister Robin’s pattern Magnolia Lane.  Sue has made just about every pattern that Robin has published and is waiting for more.

Beginning Machine Piecing Class Today

Another exciting day at the quilt shop.  We started reviewing the homework, as usual.  Last week’s lesson was on Log Cabin blocks.

Today we tackled the dreaded half square triangle and they made these in class.

We are not having a class next week because we have kid’s camp.  In two weeks they will come back with three friendship star blocks made and we will work on flying geese.

Customer Quilt–Log Cabin Beauty

This little quilt was made by Lynda.  I quilted it yesterday and met her at Starbucks to give it to her.

It looks pretty big in this photo but it is only 27 inches square.  Those logs are little logs!

Deadline for entries for the ECQG Quilt Show is tomorrow so this was done just in time.

Design Wall Monday–June 13, 2011

On my design wall today is the beginning of my second Christmas in July project.  It is from a line called Jovial by Basic Grey.

Not sure if you can tell from the photo but all of these blocks are 3D.  The tree and the pinwheels are folded fabric inserted in the seams.

For more design walls, go to Judy L’s blog.

Another Customer Quilt

Here is another customer quilt.  Hopefully she will pick it up today.  Michele made it for her and then I quilted and bound it.

It is a large quilt.

Look at the wonderful back.

It is a preprinted fabric of blocks.  Perfect for the back of this quilt.
