Secret Project Revealed – Nancy’s Quilt

Last December, our friend Nancy lost her husband to a sudden heart attack.  Shortly after that, we decided to make a comfort quilt for her.  We asked for bright heart blocks from anyone who was moved to make one for her.  We got blocks from all the other Piecemakers, many from guild and other friends.

We then put them all up on a design wall and tried to decide what to do with them.

We met at Tiny Stitches and decided to border each one of them to make sure they were all the same size.

Then we took a break and tried to figure out what to do next.  Of course, we had a few math issues along the way and ended up with lots and lots of extra strips.  After putting all the blocks together, we added piano keys to the top and bottom of the quilt.

Next it was time to quilt it.  I finally got around to it last week and Jan took it to bind.  We were able to give it to Nancy today at Piecemakers.

Here is Nancy down on the floor looking at all the blocks and signatures.

and here is the finished quilt.

It is a wonderful way to show her how much we love her and care about her and I loved being part of it.
