2014 Hexie Block of the Month

I finished putting the top together on my Hexie BOM.  I really like it.  I need to do a little handwork to finish the butterfly and the sun but it is almost ready to quilt.

All the fabrics around the blocks are polka dots!

Ready for Community Service Day at Allatoona

Tomorrow is a community service sew-in at Allatoona.  The guild supplied jelly roll kits for a fun day of jelly roll racing (not really racing but having fun sewing them together).  The collection I got was batiks and I foolishly decided to put a square of black in between each strip.  That was a lot more work than I had anticipated but since I am working on other sewing projects, I used the squares and strips as leaders/enders and finished them up this morning.  I then rolled the strips into a jelly roll so it will be easy to start sewing tomorrow at the meeting.

Glad I am ready to go in the morning.  This morning I also boiled several eggs so I can take egg salad tomorrow.  Glad to be a little ahead for a change.

Design Wall Monday–March 16, 2015

On my design wall today is a quilt that I plan to enter into the guild show.  The deadline is today for entries and after I took this photo, I realized there is a mistake on the right side of the quilt.  Two of the blocks are turned wrong.  I took the photo yesterday so last night I picked out the two blocks and got them turned correctly.

I am going to the shop this afternoon to teach a kids’ class so I will take the quilt again and take another photo,  I don’t know why I can see the problems in person but they are easy enough to see in a photo.  Thankfully, the quilt isn’t quilted yet.  The pattern is from Bonnie Hunter and is Many Scrappy Trips.  All the fabrics are batiks and it is 94 inches square.

Sampler Savvy–Last Class

We had a great time last night.  It was the final class for Sampler Savvy and unfortunately one of the students was unable to attend.  The other three were there and two of them have finished their quilt tops.  The one who hasn’t finished is ready to finalize the center and move on to the borders.

Allatoona BOM Day

Yesterday was block of the month day at guild.  Lots of fun houses were shared.  Unfortunately I couldn’t stay long because I needed to get to the shop to work during Shop Hop but I did manage to take a few photos.

Design Wall Monday–March 9, 2015

This is my first design wall of the year – not sure how I got off track but hopefully I am back.  This is the Hexie BOM from The Hexie Blog for 2014.  I have been undecided how I wanted to set them but decided yesterday to frame them with polka dots!

More framing to do and then decide if I want to set them side by side or should I add a small sashing of the background?  Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Since Shop Hop started Saturday, I thought I would show my quilt.  The theme of the hop is Sweet Sixteen so I designed a block that has sixteen half square triangles to make a sixteen inch block and there are sixteen blocks.  Here is the finished quilt.
