My Apron

Well, I didn’t get a photo of me wearing the apron because I forgot to ask anyone to take it.  I did hang it on the front door and snapped a photo after I came home last night.

I will take some photos of the projects today and share them.  The store looks great when decorated for Christmas – too bad it is so miserably hot!

Aprons at Christmas in July

Thought it might be interesting to check out the aprons everyone was wearing at Christmas in July.

Barb

Beth

Carolyn

 Lynda

  Mary

Mindy and Joyce

I forgot to get a photo of my apron.  It is at the shop and when I go back for the last session of Christmas in July in a few minutes, I will get someone to take my picture.

Of course, at all our celebrations, we have a guest.  Scarlett O’Hara came to shop hop and for this Christmas celebration the “Sugar Plump Fairy” was here.

Merry Christmas and Happy Halloween!

Potholder Swap

Well, I found the package that Robin sent to me for the Potholder swap.  Unfortunately, it got put aside and I just found it.  Look what was inside!

Aren’t they wonderful!  I love them.  Thank you so much Robin.

Beyond Beginners Class

Monday night was the second session of the Beyond Beginners class and the lesson focuses on putting a quilt on point.  They all got some blocks made and then starting in one corner, worked on putting the quilt together.

These are all going to be wonderful quilts and although it is a simple pattern it is designed to really highlight the fabric.  They each choose wonderful fabric combinations and so very different from each other.

Tote Bag Received

My swap partner send me my tote bag and it arrived while I was away.  Bill put it safely in my office and I just found it today.  Sorry for the delay in thanking my wonderful swap partner Mandy.

Look at what was inside the package.

Very nice tote plus enough fabric to make another one – pattern included.  I also got a little snowman ornament with the name of her town on it.  I love everything!

I am still working on my tote bag to send.  I managed to get the last Christmas quilt quilted today and finished up the binding a few minutes ago so I just have a Christmas apron to make in the morning and I will be set for Christmas in July.  After the apron, I hope to finish my swap tote.

Winner!

My random number generator (DH) picked number 21 which is Diane.  I just sent her an email to find out if she wants the Christmas kit or would prefer Fruits and Vegetables.  Once I hear back from her, it will be on the way to her.

Here is another view of the Christmas quilt made up.

It would be equally fun with fruits and vegetables!

Design Wall Monday – July 26

It is more of a design pile than a design wall right now but it will go on the longarm later today.  I finished the second Christmas quilt last night.  Now to get it quilted and bound by Wednesday at 5 pm, in time for Christmas in July at Tiny Stitches on Thursday and Friday.

Check out Judy’s blog for more design walls.  Having Design Wall Monday gives me a reason to get things done – Yea!

Sunday in Georgia – Hot!

It was hot again today – hot! hot! hot!  At least we didn’t have big storms like yesterday.  When we left the quilt shop yesterday, it was raining so hard that by the time I got to the car, I looked like I had just got out of the shower with my clothes on.  We waited a while for it to let up but it didn’t so off we went.  Of course, I did have an umbrella that was safe in the car – lot of good that did me.

I finished up the second Christmas quilt tonight – it will go on the longarm tomorrow.  Needs to be completed by Wednesday so plenty of time – right?

Because I hate to post without a photo, here is a photo of my little dog, Max.  He spend most of his time sleeping on the footstool in front of my chair. He is about 15 years old and is slowing down a lot but still is my little boy!  He weighs around 6 lbs and is a real sweetheart.

12 Days of Christmas Quilt

I quilted the 5, 10, 20 quilt this afternoon.  I am headed upstairs to get the binding sewn on by machine so I can do the handwork over the next couple of evenings.  The fabric line I used is 12 Days of Christmas by Moda – by the way, Mark Dunn, President of Moda was in Tiny Stitches on Wednesday and I had the chance to show him this quilt.

The last photo is the back of the quilt.  It is flannel from the same line and I used the giant four patch method of doing the back.  I love it.

I quilted it freehand with lime green thread using the Pajama Quilter’s vision of dwirling.  Fun and gives such great texture to the quilt.

Winner of Basket

My random number generator (DH) selected number 13 for the winner of the follower giveaway.  The winner is Andee.

I have sent an email asking for her address and will get the basket on the way to her as soon as possible.

Here is what I have been working on today before I went to the dentist for a crown.  After that lovely experience I didn’t do much else today.

I appliquéd the holly leaves and berries last night and have all the blocks made.  I just need to finish getting it sewn together.  Hope to finish it in the morning.

Monday in Southern California

Yesterday we went out to lunch with my sister’s partner, Marilyn.  We went to downtown Long Beach.  It has changed a lot from when I used to live down there – many, many years ago.

Here is the entry point – we went to lunch at the building on the right.

Here is the view from our table.

Of course, that is the Queen Mary.

For dinner we went to a small Mexican place in Seal Beach and I had carnitas, my favorite Mexican meal.

My plane takes off just before noon today so my next post will be from Georgia.  I have had a wonderful time but there is truly “No Place Like Home.”

I hope to work on the 1/2 square triangles later today.

Sunday in Seal Beach

We had a slow Sunday here in Seal Beach.  Robin made a delicious dinner of Spaghetti and meatballs, fresh crusty bread and John made Caesar Salad.  For dessert we had lemon cake and Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding. We did manage to make one more snappy bag each.

Here are a few photos from last week when Christina and Emilio were here.

Emilio will be seven this week – getting to be quite a big boy!

Saturday in Southern California

We went out to breakfast this morning after returning the rental car.  We went to a lovely outdoor restaurant called Schooner or Later.

Here is the view from our table.

and here is my breakfast – Chili Omelet.  Yum!

This afternoon we got some of our stuff unpacked ad made these two little coin purses.

They are made from oilcloth and a cut up tape measure.  We bought a pattern in Las Vegas and made a couple of bags.  Here is a photo of Robin’s – I can’t find mine right now.

They are lots of fun to make.

Report on Friday in Las Vegas

We sewed some on Friday before we packed up and left to drive home.  I worked on a Christmas quilt for the shop and Robin worked on log cabin blocks.

Here are my blocks so far – they won’t be set like this.

Here are Robin’s log cabin blocks.

These are made from fruit or vegetable fabric.  Love the watermelon.

Report on Thursday in Las Vegas

I got a lot done yesterday.  Here is my Nine Patch Surprise made from 30’s fabrics.  I got all the blocks made and put together.

I like how it turned out.

I also put together the log cabin balls I made on Monday.  This will be great on a table or hanging on the front door.

I then started another Christmas quilt for Christmas in July.  We are going back to Southern California today but will sew for a while.  More later.

Report on Wednesday in Las Vegas

I taught the Nine Patch Surprise yesterday and many of them are in process.  Most people have not finished their version and I hope to get more photos today.  In the meantime, here is the Halloween one that Robin made yesterday.

In between answering questions and helping students, I was able to get my Christmas 5,10,20 quilt together.  I had most of the blocks made before I came so it was just making a few more and laying it out.  I got all the blocks sewn together and the binding made yesterday.  Here it is.

I will quilt it as soon as I get home and it will be ready for Christmas in July at the end of the month.

Report on Tuesday in Las Vegas

Yesterday we all worked on Magnolia Lane quilts.  I finished mine but forgot to take a photo.  Here are a few that I did get photos of.

Nice quilts, aren’t they.

Today I am teaching my Nine Patch Surprise – looking forward to it.
