Atlanta Modern Quilt Guild Meeting

Sunday was the first meeting of the Atlanta Modern Quilt Guild that I was able to attend.  One of the topics was a quilt that is being made to donate to the Georgia Quilt Museum.  Every guild in the state has been asked to make a quilt.  They will be displayed in the State Capitol in January, auctioned off and then displayed at the Museum when it opens early next year.  After the exhibit, they will be given to the winning bidders.  The auction will benefit the new museum.

Since this is a Modern Quilt Guild, the idea was to make a color block quilt with blocks made from a single color.  Many of the blocks were turned in and put on the design wall.

They are looking good so far.  They are going to be sashed with white.  The organizers are asking for a bed sized quilt so it will be decided how wide the sashing will be when all the blocks are collected.  I am going to quilt it when it is done.

Look at all the different designs for the blocks – some simple and some quite complex but all nice.  I made two of the blocks.
