Look at the wonderful pillowcase I got from Stella. Love it and her too.

I am almost ready to leave for the airport. I managed to make a travel pillow this morning after packing. Here it is folded up.
and open.
I need to work on the measurements a little and then I will write a tutorial.
Next time I post, I will be in California. Unfortunately, Bill and the doggies will still be here.

As if I don’t have enough to do, I saw a travel pillow yesterday that I would like to make to take on the plane with me. Here is the one I saw.
It looks simple enough to make and I took measurements. I forgot to take a photo of it folded up. The pillow is feather and it rolls up and gets stuffed into the cuff so it is small and easy to carry. Once you want to use it, it unfolds and is a comfy pillow. I stopped at Fabric and Fringe Warehouse yesterday after I saw the pillow and picked up two feather pillows that are 14x20 which is the size in the photos.
Not sure if I have time to make it by tomorrow but I will do it. I will try to do a tutorial if anyone is interested.

I made a pillowcase for the shop. We still have some of the Georgia fabric so I thought I would make a pillowcase and some kits. Ran out of time to make the kits but I will get them done.
I like how it turned out.

I am going to Quilt Market in Salt Lake City next month! My sister Robin is going to have a booth there to introduce her patterns to the world and I am going to help her. She is busy getting ready and sent me fabric to make an apron to wear while we work.
If you check out Robin’s blog, you will see that this is the same fabric she is making her logo quilt out of. I am going to make another “My Neighbors Apron” and she is going to make a different apron based on Esther’s apron. Esther was a good friend of our mother and made the most wonderful old fashioned aprons. Both Robin and I have a few of them made by Esther.
I don’t think I posted a photo of my Shop Hop apron. It is wonderful to wear at the shop. The pockets are so handy and we all love the Georgia fabric.
Speaking of Georgia fabric – here is a pillowcase I made from it.
It is going as a gift to someone the shop does a lot of business with. Maetha asked me to make it for her to give and I am always happy to make a pillowcase.

I taught a pillowcase class last night. During class I made two pillowcases as demonstration pieces.
The one with lime green dots is made from flannel.
Here are the students with their pillowcases.
Pillowcases are such a great quick project and a wonderful gift.

One of our customers at Tiny Stitches is having severe health issues. We wanted to do something for her and decided a couple of cheerful pillowcases would be nice. I got them cut out during the pillowcase class last week and finished them up this morning.
I am not sure if you can tell from the photos but they are both sewing theme fabrics. Sewing machines and tools on the blue one and the white one has embroidery stitches on it. I am taking them to the shop today so they can be sent out to the patient. I hope she likes them.

There were two students in class last night. One mother and one daughter. Daughter is nine and did a great job. Here she is with her pillowcase.
Don’t you love the Dr. Seuss fabric? Her mother also made her pillowcase from Dr. Seuss – here it is.
They both used the same Cat In The Hat fabric for body of the pillowcase, the same dots for the accent but have different fabric for the cuff.
As always, I made a pillowcase as a demonstration. I finally got my Gone With The Wind pillowcase made.
Here they all are together.
Another great class!

Not much new on my design wall today. I did get the Gone With The Wind pillowcase made. The wonky log cabin blocks are still there and the top row is the three Saturday Samplers I am working on. They each have blocks behind them so the whole set is there.
The other wall is just the same as last week – untouched since then.
Still haven’t put the first border on the Jelly Roll Sampler.

We got some new Gone With The Wind fabric in the shop. Only two different designs and they really don’t go with each other. Maetha has a niece who really would like to buy my Frankly My Dear quilt made from the first Gone With the Wind fabric line but I am not ready to sell it. With this new fabric, I am making a pillowcase to store my quilt in and a second one for Maetha to give to her niece.
Here is another photo of Frankly My Dear.
And here are the fabrics I am using to make the pillowcases.
Hope to get them made this evening.

We had a small class of girls today at the quilt shop. We teach a kids camp in the summer and have occasional Sunday afternoon classes. Today they learned to make a pillowcase. They did such a great job that they were able to also make a travel pillowcase each.
The first photo is of the pillowcases and next of the travel sized one.
I don’t know if this is just a Southern thing but the girls all refer to us as Miss – I was called Miss Melinda all day. It is a great answer, in my opinion, of what children should call adults that are not family. What do you think? Is this common in other areas? I don’t remember this from my childhood in California.
