Dear Jane

I started working on a Dear Jane quilt several years ago.  What I had planned was a very scrappy quilt in 30’s fabrics.  I have 42 blocks and have decided that I really don’t want to make any more.  I laid them out on the floor and am trying to decide what to do with the blocks I have made so far.

They are a lot brighter in real life but they just don’t excite me enough to continue on.  I think I just need to sash them and make a small quilt out of them and move on to the bright Dear Jane that I really want to make.

I am not sure what I want for sashing but I do think it needs sashing to separate the blocks and let each one stand on it’s own.  Not sure what color sashing to use.  Any ideas?

  1. I think the colors are so pretty and will make a great looking quilt. Hope you post after it is finished.

  2. Could you sash them in your background white/cream and maybe use all the other colors for cornerstones? I also think they look good without sashing.

  3. I don't remember where but I remember seeing one sashed with the storm at sea setting block. Looked really nice, a little more work but worth the effort. cw

  4. Hi Melinda, these are darling blocks. How about keeping your 30's theme going with a three-piece sashing; white,a ribbon of one of your theme prints, and white again. I know whatever you do will look great, as always:) Be sure to let us see how you finish up.

  5. It is very sweet, I hope you like it better as time goes on. I would suggest like Pat did, to keep the white-and-color theme in your sashes. It's gonna be great!
