I have been making progress on the feathered star for my January UFO, the Allatoona BOM from last year.
Starting to look pretty good, isn’t it. The paper piecing pattern is easy to use and easy to do in the scrappy manner I want. Now the next decision is what to put in the center of the star. The original pattern calls for a plain green center but I think I want to do something slightly different. I have thought about putting another star in the center or perhaps a sting block of some kind. Still have a few more outer points to work on but then the whole center of the quilt will be finished. I can hardly wait to see what it looks like put together.
Then the next step will be do decide what to do about borders. Pieced? or Plain?

I really like how it coming out. I think a star in the center would be perfect. After you get the center together it will hopefully speak to you and let you know what it needs for a border. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning...I love the green and black.
ReplyDeleteI really like your star. I have one completed but it is a UFO because I haven't added borders and completed the quilt. It is all planned, just not done. I keep it on my design wall so I won't forget it.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's gorgeous! Te colors are striking. I've never been brave enough to do a feathered star. Good job!
ReplyDeletelove the colors! I think a star in the center would be pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors, can't wait to see it finished
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white and green thing you have going! It's one of my favorite combinations.
ReplyDeleteMelinda, I just love this block. The lime green and the black are terrific. Which pattern company makes the feathered star in a paper pieced pattern?? I would love to know, that is one design I have always wanted to make and I just love paper piecing.
