2009 BOM / Allatoona Quilters' Guild

Tomorrow we will be starting our 2009 Block of the Month at the Allatoona Quilters' Guild. Tina has designed a great quilt for us to make. She put together the pattern in book format and even had it spiral bound. We sold these to each interested member for only $6 to recover the copying charge. What a bargain.

Tina is teaching the first block which is the double four patch that is used for the chain. She will also be reviewing cutting and piecing (especially that dreaded 1/4 inch seam) for all the newer quilters. We will be making 12 of these blocks that are 12 inches finished.

We will be making the center feathered start block a little at a time so that people will be able to make a complicated block, just a step at a time. Tomorrow we will be cutting out outermost points - everyone should be able to do that, especially with Tina's able assistance.

As you can see by the above photograph, Tina designed the quilt as a two color quilt. She is using red and beige as her colors. She is also making hers very scrappy. I decided to follow her lead and make a two color quilt but doing it in my style.

This is my background. I have lots of black with white fabrics that I will be using.

And here is my "red". Many of these were from my birthday FQ's that I got in November and of course, I have lots more lime green in my stash. I had to stop pulling them or I can't even fit them in my project box.

I can't wait to see how this is looking - hopefully I will have some blocks to show you tomorrow.

Also today, we celebrated Danielle's birthday which is actually tomorrow. We had a great brunch at a new to us restaurant in Marietta called Douceur de France. It is a great place and I would highly recommend it if you are ever near downtown Marietta.
