Pam Bono Trunk Show

I am finally feeling a little better today.  We had a quilt show meeting this morning and I feel good about it.  I am the show chair for our 2011 show and this was the first meeting.  I wanted to take a small group of people through my thoughts for the next show and gather their comments and opinions.  It worked out really well but I am glad to be back home.  The other good news is that it is raining.  Hopefully that will take care of some of the pollen that is so bad.

I have my monthly purse class tonight so will rest this afternoon so I can be ready to help everyone tonight.  Here are some of the photos from the Pam Bono trunk show on Tuesday.

Evening Beginner Class – Log Cabin Blocks

After taking a long nap this afternoon, I was ready for the evening class.  We had six students show up – one came to the morning class.  Here is their homework from the nine patch class last week.

We then started making log cabin blocks.  Like this morning, everyone seemed to enjoy making the block.

One of the issues we had with this block is that it calls for dark and light fabrics to be used on each side.  Like most quilters, most of the group had bought almost all medium value fabrics.  Sometimes we just had to separate by color instead of value but all the blocks look great.  They will be each making a total of three log cabin blocks.

Beginning Machine Piecing – Morning #3

Not everyone was able to come to the morning session today.  Hopefully they can come next week and get caught up. First we looked at everyone’s nine patch blocks from last week.

Then we moved on to log cabin blocks.  Log cabin blocks are usually either the favorite or the most hated block we make. 

They each got one block done and got started on a second one.  They seemed to enjoy they way I teach them to make the blocks.  We measure after each log is added which makes it easy to make adjustments.

After class, I took a nap – I am still not recovered from my cold and the allergy season is also in full bloom here in Atlanta.  I still can’t imagine how there can be a scale of 1-120 and we register 5700+.  Makes no sense to me.

April Allatoona Guild Meeting – Dots

Today was the monthly meeting at Allatoona.  We are exchanging sets of dot fabric for the next three months.  Each set contains 12 10-inch squares and I took 3 sets to trade.

Here is what I came home with -

You can see that I got some duplicates but not too many.  I plan to do three sets for the next two months and should have a wonderful collection of dots by then.

Design Wall Monday

My actual design wall hasn’t changed from last week.  Still on it is my How Does Your Garden Grow quilt waiting for more applique.

I do have a another photo to share – this one is what should be up on my design wall and will be soon.

These fabrics are from a Robyn Pandolph Moda collection and I am going to make them into a Five, Ten, Twenty quilt. I want to make one of each but thought I would start with the one made from twenty fat quarters.  I have the fabrics picked for the ten half yards.  Not sure yet what I will make from the five yards.  It should be fun to have all three variations of the quilt hanging together.

Happy Easter and Happy Birthday to Barb

I hope everyone is having a happy Easter today.  Here is my Easter Egg table runner that was made several years ago.

I know I have posted them before but I really like them and it is Easter!

Also, Happy Birthday to Barb.  Barb works with me at Tiny Stitches and is celebrating her 80th birthday today.  I only hope I look as good and feel as good as she does when I am 80.

Fabric Wrapped Basket

I worked at the shop this afternoon and Beth was there working on a fabric wrapped basket.  She is going to teach a class and it should be very popular.  The book she used is
It’s a Wrap II by Susan Breier.

I met Susan a couple of weeks ago at the Sewing Expo and she signed a copy of the book for me.

We have Saturday Sampler today and it will be a very busy day.  We are also going to celebrate Barb’s 80th birthday.

Customer Quilt – Bear

I finished up a customer wall hanging yesterday.  This is absolutely beautiful.

It is about 32-33 inches and is all fusible appliqué.  She didn’t stitch down any of the appliqué so I thread painted the whole thing.

Present from my Sister

Last week, my sister Robin sent me a package.  She posted about her purchase here.  I commented that it really looked like fun and she said she had sent me a package.  Every day I reported to her that the package had not arrived and we had finally decided that it was lost in the mail.  I happened to look at my desk last night and found a package from her that Bill had placed on my desk but forgot to tell me about.  I opened it up and found the pattern, stencils and thread there.

The pattern is a laminated sheet and then the stencils are used to do the embroidery.  The thread is beautiful and very colorful.  I can’t wait to start this.
