Fabric for a New Apron

There is a new selvage fabric out so of course I want to make a new apron.  At the quilt shop, we all wear aprons that we make.  They fit our personality and this one will be perfect for me.

Selvages and hexies – two of my favorite things but don’t forget pockets – polka dots!

I can hardly wait to cut into this!

Apron Swap Received

My apron from the Spring Fling Flirty Apron Swap arrived today.  Well actually it arrived in Marietta sometime in the last 10 days but I opened it today.  I was gone from the 10th to the 19th for my adventures out West.

Here is a not so good photo.

It is a beautiful retro apron made by Bree.  Thank you so much! The other little gifts are wonderful also.

Design Wall Monday–May 9, 2011

Here is what is on my design wall today – all the blocks from Let’s Bee Together.  I had the month of April for this bee and am very pleased with what everyone made for me.

Although not on my design wall, I did finish this apron to wear at Quilt Market.  I am leaving today to go to Southern California.  My sister Robin has a booth at Quilt Market in Salt Lake City so I am going to help her.  We will be driving to Salt Lake from Seal Beach starting tomorrow morning.  If you are going to Spring Market stop by 2446 and say hello.

You will be able to recognize us with our matching but not the same aprons.  Here is mine.

and you can see Robin’s here.

Apron Swap Ready to Mail

I finished up my apron for the apron swap yesterday.  It will go into the mail today.  We are also sending three tuck-ins and I have them ready so all that needs to be done is to package everything up and actually get it in the mail.  I hope my partner likes it.

I made it from a pattern called the Clothespin Apron.  It is reversible and very cute.

Progress on blocks

I made another Saturday Sampler block – a batik house.  It looks a little wonky in the photo but looks better in person.  This time the house is an apartment building.

While working on this block, I completed one more leader/ender block – number 13.

I joined an apron swap and picked out the following fabric to use for my partner.

Now all I have to do is decide on the pattern.  I still am debating between three of my favorites.

Shop Hop–Day Three

I thought I would show our parade of aprons we made for the Shop Hop.  Each of us used the Georgia fabric that is featured for the Shop Hop and made our own apron, using any pattern and trim we wanted.  Here we go!

First is Carolyn

Beth

Barb

Connie

Debbie

Mindy

Stella

Tina

I forgot to get a photo of me and my apron – I will do that today.  Our theme was a castle and we are celebrating the engagement of William and Kate.  We all had hats and the aprons and are having a lot of fun.

Off to the last day of Shop Hop for another year!

Getting Ready for Shop Hop

The Greater Atlanta Shop Hop is coming the last week of March and we are starting to get ready for it.  We are all going to make a new apron to wear using the Shop Hop fabric.  I plan on making another of “My Neighbors Apron” that I made for Christmas.  Here is the fabric I am going to use.  Everyone at the shop is making their own apron so they will all be different but will feature the shop hop fabric.

The black fabric is the shop hop fabric and has all kinds of Georgia things on it.  You can see the Fabulous Fox Theatre at the bottom center, the Georgia Aquarium in the middle, Masters golf at the top, Centeninnel Olympic park under the rick rack and the soon to be build Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum near the center.  We are pre-selling the fabric to be picked up at shop hop but were allowed to have enough of it now to make the aprons.

I am teaching the fifth class of Beginning Machine Piecing today – flying geese.
