I understand it is sideways but just turn your head please.
I know - it doesn't take much to entertain me.

Yet Another One Block Wonder

At the OBW classes, I took yet another piece of fabric and got it pinned for a third OBW.  I can’t seem to stop looking at fabric in a whole different way.  Here is the one after the Halloween quilt.

I can’t wait to see what this looks like cut up.

Halloween Panel

I have had several questions about the panel I used for my Halloween OBW.  It is this years panel from Deb Strain by Moda.

0914 Halloween Panel

I am going to put this on the back so I will be able to show everyone where the blocks came from.

I started quilting the other OBW but ran out of time because I had to meet friends to go downtown to a lecture by Kaffe Fassett.  We had a great time (except for the extreme cold from excessive air conditioning).  After the lecture we went out to dinner so no more quilting last night.

I plan to finish the OBW today, in time for class tomorrow.  Hopefully I will get the binding done also.

I have been working on the Halloween One Block Wonder quilt top.  This has been a lot of fun.

Here are all the blocks up on the wall in no order.

Design Wall Monday–September 22, 2014

Today on my design wall I have more One Block Wonder blocks.  After completing all the hexagons for the first quilt, I started thinking about the panel challenge that the Atlanta Modern Quilters Guild is focusing on.  Simple rules – make something from a panel.  I realized that the repeat on my fabric for the current OBW is 24 inches and that is what the width of the average panel is.  I decided to see what happens if you stack up six identical panels and cut them up.  This is what I have so far.

0914 Halloween Blocks 3

Interesting!  I have about 6-10 more hexagons to make before I try to arrange them.  This should be fun!  I bought an extra panel to put on the back of the quilt so you will be able to see where the blocks are coming from.  When I get the top together, I will post a photo of the panel for comparison. I am having a great time playing with them.

I plan on quilting the first OBW tonight so it will be ready for the class on Thursday.  This one will still be in process so students can see how it is put together.

Visitors to the Back Yard

We went out for dinner last night and came home around dusk.  As we drove into the driveway, There were 3 deer in the backyard.  This is the first time we have seen deer here.  There was a Mother and two smaller ones.  I tried to get photos but this is the only one that came out OK.

They were only 20-30 feet away.  As I got closer, they ambled off into the neighbor’s yard.  I hope to see them again.

Gifts for Students

I decided to make a little gift for my students.  I ended up making 13 of these pin cushions but gave out a few without taking a photo.  Here are five of them.

0914 Gifts for Students

I love selvages so I made these cute little pin cushions for each of the students.  They seemed to appreciate them.

Quilting Live Show in Georgia

I have been working at the Quilting Live show for the past couple of days.  The show closes today – it has been fun and hard work.

Some of the exhibits have been very interesting.  One that I liked a lot had old quilts from eBay that were quilted by modern longarmers.

We had a great time at Quilty Fun last night.  Here are a few of the rows that have been completed.  I am still working on my leaf row – just ran out of time.  They are all made but just need to sew them together.
